We’re celebrating the birth of our new series, Mom in the Making, with classes starting up next week in Arlington, Prudential and Hanover. Our goal is to bring together a community of women, in their second trimester of pregnancy, to share their questions, experiences and the excitement of this special time with one another. This “prenatal mother’s group” was inspired by the feedback from new moms in our Great Beginnings classes who often tell us that they wished for more information, support and a community of other expectant moms during their pregnancy. One of our pilot session attendees, Sally, shares her experience in Mom in the Making:
I was able to relate to other women going through the same things I was and had ideas on how to help improve those feelings and symptoms.
I went into it having a lot of questions and being anxious with all the unknowns, but afterwards, I was relieved to have answers to my questions. I entered the group after having a hard few weeks with the pregnancy and after one night with the ladies, I immediately started feeling better as I was able to relate to other women going through the same things I was. I learned a lot of ideas from the other women on how to help improve those feelings and symptoms I was experiencing. I think the biggest take away from the sessions were the discussions on self care and the encouragement to ensure I was taking care of myself. Since the sessions ended, I have felt much better with my pregnancy and have focused more on my self care by practicing yoga, exercising more and eating better. I really do believe the Mom in the Making class, helped me greatly during my first pregnancy!
